Hats As Apparel Accessories

Hats were once apparel accessories found in every man and woman's wardrobe. Hats have a way of transforming ordinary people into stylish individuals, brimming with personality. Putting on the hat that's right for you can bring out a new sense of confidence. Additionally, hats are completely practical -- whether it's to keep the hot sun off your head, protect your hair from blowing into a mess, or prevent rain and snow from beating down on you. There are many factors to consider when choosing the right hat to match your outfit.

First, you must consider the right apparel accessories hat for your face shape. If you have a round face like Cameron Diaz, then you'll want something with a high crown like a fedora, a Justine or a Chelsea; avoid cloches, pillboxes, hats beanies and berets. You can slant your hats forward to give additional angles. If you have an oval-shaped face like Hilary Duff, then you can wear just about any type of hat. If you have a square-shaped face like Jennifer Lopez, try curvy feminine hats with large brims and upturned brims, such as pageboys, Chelseas, Constances, Audreys, Paulettes, Skimmers, Olivias and Annas are all good hat styles. If you have a longer face like Sarah Jessica Parker, then wide brim hats with low crowns will look great on you.

Next you must find a hot style of hat that you can feel confident in. The fedora is a popular choice for making bold statements and dressing up any look. You can pull your hair back, tilt it to one side or wear it with your hair down to change the style. You can buy a $158 Tarnish Fedora With Bow at Nordstroms if you want to splurge, or save a buck and get the Stripe Trim Fedora from Forever 21 for $10.80. Another winning style for winter hats is the Russian Cossack. You can bundle up with a nice winter coat, scarf, boots and the right makeup to look luxurious in the snow. Try a Russian-Style Faux Fur Cossack from www.fabulousfurs.com for $49. The cloche hats gained popularity with Angelina Jolie's look in the movie "Changeling." This vintage style is simple, yet glamorizes basic jeans, sweaters and leather boots nicely. At www.zappos.com, you can find an UGG Australia Classic Back Snap cloche for $107.10 or try a black felt cloche from Forever 21 for $12.80. Lastly, berets are low-key and stylish for every occasion and outfit. You can buy a Marc Jacobs beret at www.bluefly.com for $159 or a basic wool black beret at www.solidcolorhats.com for $7.50.

The hat you choose should also look good with other apparel accessories like shoes, purses or jewelry. Yet, the most important thing is that the style matches, more so than color. If you're wearing a flowing summer dress, choose an elegant hat with soft lines and long ribbons. For a tailored suit or tight-lined dress, try a more structured hat with sharp, sleek lines. Be sure that your accessories aren't competing with each other. For instance, if you wear a large hat, don't wear large earrings too. You should also wear a hat that suits your age. For instance, younger women can pull off pastel colors, while older women should go for bolder colors.

Custom Hats Shirts And More
It may sound strange, but people go crazy for free hats shirts and clothing, no matter what is written on it. This strange truth can be seen in any marketing campaign as people clamor in line to get their hands on this gear. Of course, simply giving away mens hats or womens apparel with your company logo on it may not be enough to translate to sales.

Hats History
Baseball hats are one of the most common types today, but there are many more varieties from which to choose. Many of the womens apparel of the past are coming back in vogue; the cloche, the brimmed hat or even a beret. For men, derby hats, Stetson hats and fedoras have been picking up some favor.

Matching Hats Bags
Few things look worse than mismatched hats bags and shoes. The best way to ruin a fabulous dress is by choosing accessories that clash and command unwanted attention. It can be easy to go overboard.

Women's Shoes Accessories And Hats
Women's apparel comes in many different styles to suit all personalities. Active women, for instance, may prefer comfortable, non-prohibitive sports apparel and practical hats visors or baseball caps that keep sun and sweat off their faces. By contrast, chic women who work in $300,000/year positions in New York want to convey an opulent sophistication with expensive fabrics, clean lines, authoritative heels and carefully-chosen jewels.

Hats Off
A top hat seems extremely formal and proper and, in fact, is rarely worn today. Women donned bonnets to church and pill box hats to weddings. Even so, taking one's hat off is seen as a formal gesture when an introduction is made, during the dinner hour, during prayer, as we sing our national anthem or when a person of high status enters the room.
